We collect information from you when you register on our site, place an order or fill out a form.
When ordering or registering on our site, as appropriate, you may be asked to enter your: name, e-mail address, mailing address or phone number.

The email address you provide for order processing, may be used to send you information and updates pertaining to your order, in addition to receiving occasional IVLA news, updates, related events or service information, etc. Note: If at any time you would like to unsubscribe from receiving future emails, simply click on the ‘unsubscribe’ link provided at the bottom of the email.
How do we protect your information?
We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you place an order or access your personal information.
We offer the use of a secure server. All supplied sensitive information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our Payment gateway providers database only to be accessible by those authorized with special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential.
After a transaction, your private information (credit cards or financials, etc.) will not be stored on our servers. We DO NOT at this time handle any of your financial (credit card) information, all that information is handled securely by Paypal .
Yes (Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computers hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow) that enables the sites or service providers systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information
If you prefer, you can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can choose to turn off all cookies via your browser settings. Like most websites, if you turn your cookies off, some of our services may not function properly. However, you can still become a member by contacting us.
Do we disclose any information to outside parties?
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information. This does not include trusted third parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others rights, property, or safety. However, non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses.
The only instances of information sharing would be for the purposes of registration with an affiliate organization, such as a conference host, or the JVL in order to provide proof of payment and for the creation of bios and presenter/author details for catalogues, booklets or publications in which the person has agreed to participate.
By becoming a member of IVLA you are granted the access to our website and publications as described under each individual membership category.
As a member you also have the opportunity to submit presentations, artwork and writing for peer review and possible acceptance in conferences or publications, noting that membership does not in any way, shape or form guarantee such acceptance or favoritism in IVLA’s or its affiliates’ peer reviews.
IVLA would also like to note that established timelines and schedules for publications, events and conferences are subject to change without notice (due to a variety of reasons) and IVLA will not be held liable for any personal or institutional or other deadlines that are outside of our organization that may be effected by delays or cancellations.
Membership Participation Online
If a member chooses to participate online either on IVLA.org or on any of our affiliates’ websites by engaging in discussions in forums or by sharing images related to visual literacy the member does so acknowledging that such writing or imagery may be used by the IVLA to promote the organization; i.e. inclusion of images in our homepage slideshows or adverts or by excerpting positive or evocative writing that exemplifies visual literacy.
As a member of the IVLA you are expected to conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times when engaging with other members online, in our forums and during our in person events. Anyone deemed to be conducting themselves in an inappropriate manner, i.e. attacking or ridiculing other members on or offline, posting malicious materials on our website or harassing any member by email or other method may have their membership privileges revoked and may not be eligible to rejoin the IVLA in future.
Members who submit works (writing, imagery or artwork) also confirm that it is their own original material/creation and has not been published elsewhere or is under any copyright agreement which would prevent it from being published, presented or exhibited with the IVLA. Any actions from third parties against the IVLA claiming violation of any copyrighted righted material or other intellectual property rights due to a member’s submission which breeches that member’s previous agreement with said third party will result in that member being entirely responsible for defending such actions, legally or otherwise.
Conference Registration* Policy
If a person has registered for one of our conferences or events and need to cancel or withdraw they may do so and receive a refund minus a processing fee of $75 if the conference date is MORE THAN 2 months from the date of cancellation request. Cancellation requests made more than 1 month from the conference start date can receive HALF of their registration fees and cancellation requests made LESS THAN 1 month from the conference start date will not be refunded.
*Registration also refers to any related events, activities, and other fees associated with participation in the conference.

Occasionally, at our discretion, we may include or offer third party information or services on our website. These third party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our site and welcome any feedback about these sites.
