The 50th Annual International Visual Literacy Association Conference took place in Chicago, Illinois at National Louis University November 1-4, 2018.

Conference Theme

The conference theme was Viewing the Past, Picturing the Present, Designing the Future. The conference brought together international scholars and researchers, teachers and students, artists, scientists and other professionals to participate in an exciting exchange of ideas about visual literacy, how it has developed over the years, and to speculate on its future. The theme was explored through presentations, including PechaKucha, workshops, and other experiences.

Hosts and Partners

The conference was hosted by National Louis University, located across the street from the Art Institute of Chicago and Millennium Park.

Highlights

The 2018 conference celebrated 50 years of the International Visual Literacy Association and we were thrilled to have many conference participants from the past, present and future of IVLA.
