CALL FOR ENTRIES: IVLA 2026 Conference Logo Design
The International Visual Literacy Association (IVLA) invites designers, artists, visual scholars, educators, students, and creative practitioners to submit a conceptual logo design for the 2026 IVLA Conference, to be held in Charleston, South Carolina. This is an open call to the public for members and nonmembers of IVLA.
Visual literacy begins with how we see, remember, and interpret images. The conference logo will serve as the primary visual marker for IVLA 2026, appearing across digital, print, and conference materials. This design should thoughtfully reflect the conference theme and visually suggest the cultural, historical, and geographic context of Charleston.
Conference Theme
Seeing Through Time: The Legacy of Images in Memory, Place, and Representation
Designs should interpret this theme conceptually, rather than literally, and may draw inspiration from ideas of history, time, memory, layered narratives, place, preservation, and visual storytelling.
Design Guidelines
Submitted logos should:
- Conceptually reflect the 2026 conference theme
- Visually suggest Charleston, South Carolina through culture, history, architecture, landscape, and/or symbolic reference
- Include “IVLA 2026” (International Visual Literacy Association) as an integral part of the design
- Be adaptable and legible across multiple sizes and formats
- Function in black and white or grayscale (final color decisions will be made later)
- Avoid copyrighted, stock, or AI imagery; all elements must be original work
At this stage, IVLA is requesting conceptual designs rather than fully finalized brand systems.
Awards & Recognition
The selected designer will receive:
- $250 stipend
- Recognition across IVLA communication channels and conference materials
The winning designer will be invited to collaborate with IVLA to finalize logo deliverables for official conference use.
Submission Requirements
- One conceptual logo design per submission
- File format: PNG or PDF
- Fonts may remain editable (do not outline type at this stage)
- File name format: LastName_FirstName_IVLA2026
Submission Deadline is March 9, 2026
Additional Notes:
- Minor revisions may be requested of the selected design
- IVLA reserves the right to refine, adapt, or extend the final logo for conference materials
- This call is intended as an open, creative invitation and not a finalized branding brief
