INTERNATIONAL VISUAL LITERACY ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES DISTINGUISHED RESEARCHER AWARD WINNER

Jyväskylä, Finland Dr. Roberto Muffoletto, retired Associate Professor in Educational Technology at Appalachian State University, was awarded the International Visual Literacy Association’s (IVLA) Research Award at the 54st annual conference held in Jyväskylä, Finland this past August. 

This award is given to members of the Association who are actively involved in on-going, outstanding, and established research in visual literacy that furthers the cause of the field, who have achieved a substantial record of scholarly publication, and who have significantly advanced knowledge within the field. Dr. Muffoletto was nominated for his over thirty years of scholarship and research in visual literacy. Muffoletto has not only been a past-president of the IVLA, but he has published numerous times on visual literacy using the most advanced theories and research methodologies. Dr. Muffoletto’s research interests include critical theory and the sociology of knowledge, technology in education and culture, distance education and teacher education, media studies and education, and instructional design.
