INTERNATIONAL VISUAL LITERACY ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES EMERGING RESEARCH AWARD WINNER

Jyväskylä, Finland Dr. Kei Tomita, Assistant Professor at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia, was awarded the International Visual Literacy Association’s (IVLA) Research Award at the 54st annual conference held in Jyväskylä, Finland this past August. 

The IVLA Emerging Research Award is given to members of the Association who are actively involved in research in visual literacy that furthers the cause of the field, who are building a record of scholarly publication, and who are working toward advancing knowledge within the field. Dr. Tomita is currently an Assistant Professor of Interactive Design at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia. Tomita was nominated for their latest article, “Visual design as a Holistic Experience: How Students’ Emotional Responses to Visual Design of Instructional Materials are Formed” in the Education Studies Journal. This article brings new perspectives to the field of visual literacy about how students’ emotional responses to the visual design of instructional materials are formed, which will aid in the creation of engaging and motivating visual materials.
