About The Journals
The Journal of Visual Literacy (JVL) is the official scholarly journal of the IVLA and is the oldest international journal in the field of visual literacy. The journal publishes papers on visual literacy that cover a wide range of disciplines including education, instructional technology, communication, business, science, and the arts. It is published by Taylor and Francis.
Visual Communication Quarterly (VCQ) is an international, peer-reviewed journal of theory, research, practical criticism, and creative work in all areas of visual communication. The VCQ journal’s goal is to promote an inclusive, broad discussion of all things visual, while also encouraging synthesis and theory building across this fascinating field of study. VCQ, the official publication of the Visual Communication Division of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, has published regularly since 1994.
